Loyal readers have probably noticed that we, the fine folks behind The Awesome Blog, are enthusiastic fans of projections. We like it big. We like it small. We like it so much that we’ve decided to make things easy on you: welcome our newest addition to the category menu: PROJECTIONS! You can find it under the Technology tab above.
But in all the time we’ve been singing the praises of projection, we’ve never seen anything quite as mind-bending as the light-bending projections in the video above. This ridiculous awesomeness was the work of Klip TV, who recently visited the Upshot office for a demo and an introduction. While Klip clearly isn’t limited to straight lines and 2D services, they’re also not limited to strictly out-of-home executions. Their past successes include event marketing for Motorola during Superbowl week in Miami and in-store applications for a Kenneth Cole retail location. (If you’re interested in seeing these examples or more of their work, contact us and we’d be happy to share.)
Speaking of in-store projections, we’ve actually seen a few examples of pretty awesome indoor projections. The second video above shows a space in Vienna where projections were used in order to create “digital wallpaper” that varied over time. Remember when we said that Immersive Sensory Experiences and Delighting Consumers with Hidden Surprises would be two important trends in 2010. Yeah, this is exactly the kind of thing we had in mind. You’re telling me this wouldn’t draw you into a store? Of course it would.
Still, some of you sticklers might not be swayed by all the shiny lights. You wet blankets doubt that projections can actually solve a business problem. Man, you are NO fun. But, we’ve still got an example to win you over. Let’s say you’ve got a showroom with limited space, but still need to help your consumers visualize an infinite number of color combination, materials, and configurations. Well, if you’re Austria-based Egger Holzwerkstoffe, you’d solve this problem with an immersive projection and touchscreen experience. As demonstrated in the last video above, Egger brings a plethora of combinations to life using projected illusions, enabling consumers to visualize a countless array of options in a single showroom display.
So, like we were saying, PROJECTIONS RULE.
